Copilot usage metrics now includes per-user GitHub Copilot CLI activity in organization reports

Following our enterprise-level, user-level, and organization-level CLI metrics releases, we’re completing coverage with per-user CLI breakdowns in organization reports.

Organization admins can now see which individual users are active on the CLI and view their usage details in both 1-day and 28-day reports. This includes:

  • Whether each user has CLI activity (used_cli).
  • Per-user CLI session and request counts.
  • Token usage totals, including average tokens per request.
  • Last known CLI version per user, to help plan upgrade rollouts.

Why this matters

  • Identify which developers are actively using Copilot from the command line and where enablement may be needed.
  • Understand per-user consumption patterns to support cost allocation and expanded rollout planning.
  • Track CLI version distribution across your organization to ensure teams are on supported versions.
