Copilot coding agent can now search the web

Copilot coding agent is our asynchronous, autonomous background agent. Delegate a task to Copilot and it opens a draft pull request, makes changes in the background, and then requests a review from you.

Copilot can now search the web to gather extra context and supplement its existing knowledge. With the power of the web, Copilot can:

  • Debug unusual error messages.
  • Understand recent changes to languages and libraries since the model’s training cut-off.
  • Research best practices.

Copilot coding agent is available to Copilot Pro, Copilot Pro+, Copilot Business, and Copilot Enterprise subscribers. If you’re a Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise subscriber, an administrator will have to enable the “Copilot coding agent” and “Copilot can search the web” policies.
